I am passionate about sharing my insights about good design. I honestly believe it improves our lives.

I grew up in the inner city of Boston. As a high school student I attended the Museum of Fine Art’s program for gifted students, and soon went on to attend Massachusetts College of Art and Design. I received a BFA in Graphic Design in 1976 and opened up Rose Srebro Design in 1981.

As a teenager I was drawn to exploring the abandoned buildings of Roxbury and Dorchester. It satisfied something in me that I had not yet fully understood or connected to, but it felt deeply rooted within me. I was extremely drawn to the patinas enhanced by years of age. I found the beauty in the layers of visual history brought forth by the stained torn wallpapers, the broken architectural details of buildings built in the turn of the century and the engaging possibilities of recyclable elements. The overwhelming beauty of these objects captured my imagination and influenced my understanding of how to visually and effectively connect the dots between timeless and unconventional beauty.

This passion brought me to understand and appreciate the subtle differences in how various visual objects interact with one another, regardless of the medium. In a room or on paper, the abstract beauty which often goes unnoticed is what can make the graphic or tangible object come alive.

Like type that speaks when juxtaposed with the right shape or texture, so is the case in the blending of multiple styles, colors and techniques in a room. How light dances with color. How less reads as more. How negative space becomes an element of its own.

My visual strengths are matched by my ability to listen beyond words and interpret my clients’ interests in order to create solutions that speak to their needs. This is my mark and my legacy in the creative world.
